Getting married on the island

Many of the island hotels are licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies as are many of the historic castles and heritage sites. Outdoor marriages have also been approved, allowing couples to choose their favourite beach to tie the knot. As yet Jersey doesn’t have a law to support same sex marriage but it is due to be introduced by 2017.

Applying for a licence is relatively simple. Applications for arranging a wedding from outside Jersey can be made by post and couples will then need to arrive just 3 days before their big day to complete the paperwork and collect a marriage licence. Similar steps will be needed when arranging a civil ceremony from outside Jersey.
