Christmas Markets

Jersey’s Christmas Markets light up the town squares during December with the smell of mulled cider and Christmas treats adding to the festive spirit. From Christmas decorations to jewellery, the prettily lit stalls offer a treasure trove of gifts.

The Advent Market

Royal Square, St Helier

It’s mulled cider and hot chocolate all round as the stalls display their crafts under the twinkling lights of the chestnut trees in Royal Square. Watch street theatre and enjoy the entertainment or take a free guided tour around the town courtesy of the Blue Badge Guides on Saturday and Sunday from 1am – 4pm.

The Spirit of Christmas Market

Liberation Square, St Helier

Festive wooden chalet huts line the square with local artisans and craft workers selling unique handmade gifts accompanied by street theatre and musical entertainment.

Joyeux Noël – Lé Marchi Nouormand’

Weighbridge Place, St Helier

Enjoy the sights and tastes of this traditional Norman French Market where everything from crêpes to saucisson and cider will be on offer during the Christmas season.

Late night Christmas Shopping and Sunday opening

St Helier

Make the most of the VAT free prices and low duty and stock up on Christmas shopping in the boutiques and department stores of St Helier. There’s all the traditional high street favourites as well and two wonderful Victorian markets – Central and Beresford Markets, where the chestnuts will be warming. Traditionally, Channel Island shops close at 5.30pm on week days and all day on Sundays but for the Christmas Season traditionally close a little later at 6pm or 7pm. On Thursdays, late night shopping continues until 9pm and Sunday shopping from 10am – 5pm during December.

There’s also an undercover shopping centre at Liberty Wharf where independent boutiques and branded stores sit side by side with cafes and bars.

The Spectacular Christmas Parade

10th December

Watch as colourful floats light up the evening and form a musical procession from the Rue de L’Etau along La Route du Port Elizabeth to Liberation Square finishing at the Esplanade.
