Branchage Festival 2014

24 – 28 September

After a brief interval last year, the former Branchage Film Festival is back as the Branchage Festival with more films, more music and inspirational performances waiting to wow its discerning audience. Incorporating the latest short film submissions and with an international reputation for experimental techniques, Jersey’s premier boutique arts festival pushes the boundaries of what to expect from a concert, festival or film.

Make Your Own Island

This year’s Branchage film festival is bigger than ever with the theme of ‘Make Your Own Island’. Started in 2008, the festival is a showcase of film, music, production, lighting and performance skill with screenings and events taking place across the island. Recognised as a platform for new talent as well as an opportunity to gain knowledge of the industry and culture, it encompasses film, music, spoken word, comedy, poetry, art, talks, walks, food, children’s events and education.

Eat Your Own Island

Along with screenings and performances there is a distinctly foodie theme – ‘Eat your own Island’, focussing on the fantastic fresh local produce available in Jersey. The festival will have its own food and drink programme including a pop-up restaurant at Lucas Bros Farm Shop in St Aubin offering unique local dishes thought up by Cordon Bleu trained chef India Hamilton and Oliver Rowe, ‘The Urban Chef’ with a passion for foraging seasonal food. Supported by Jersey’s own forager extraordinaire, Kazz Padidar and cheese expert Tom Badcock, the pop-up tent will also be offering mouthwatering desserts courtesy of pastry chef Laura Coxeter.

Drink Your Own Island

If you’ve sampled enough tasty treats then how about joining in with ‘Drink Your Own Island’. Jersey is lucky enough to supported by the Liberation Group Brewerey and La Mare Vineyards, providing festival goers with Branchage Festival Ale and Branchage Cider respectively. An extra special festival vodka distilled from Jersey Royal Potatoes by La Robeline Cider Company will also be showcased, along with their cask cider.

The festival is open to all ages as seen in the festival trailers with star actress Mrs De La Haye, who reached the age of 100 last year. Events take place all over the island with many of the live acts centred around the Spiegeltent in Coronation Park, St Lawrence. Promised highlights include a showcase of new short film submissions and a closing night finale where St Aubin’s Fort will be illuminated using 3D technology and accompanied by a specially commissioned live soundscape performed by the Radiophonic Workshop, better known for the theme to Dr Who.

Festival goers can obtain a variety of tickets and passes online, although they are known to sell out quickly! For further help with accommodation, flights or inclusive holiday packages browse our online options or call 0845 230 3240.
